It costs a small amount more power to keep them running in electricity but constantly parking and restarting drives will kill the lifespan significantly faster than just letting them spin at a constant rate 24/7. I would seed from the array and always keep your drives spinning.
#UNRAID SETUP USERNAME HOW TO#
You will learn how to install and configure OpenVPN-as as a Docker container in unRAID. I made a guide a few months back on how to automate this with rtorrent and qbittorrent. This video is an updated guide for 2019 (June). This series will take you through everything that you need to know to get a server up an. I will put commands that I use in bold & italic on their own line. I will be using the root account in telnet to the server which is called DUMBO. I'm currently on Unraid Media server 5.0-b14. username/password to read/write from a specific directory. Doing this your seed location will need to be located in the same share as your end files. This is the second part of a series of videos all about Unraid 6.9. The goal of this tutorial is to get you setup with the default unRaid ftp server with. Allows you to do it from the command line to have two copies of the same file but only use the storage space for one. Alternatively using cp -al from the command line does this too. I would also hard link all downloaded files either automatically on any of the *arr programs or any of the sickchill based programs. I would recommend having your downloads go to a non parity protected share being either an unassigned drive or to your cache drive and seeding from the array. My personal setup is using rtorrent as it will have the smallest footprint on your system and can handle many thousands of torrents with no problem at all. A future release will include support for multiple "Unraid array" pools. A multiple-device pool may only be formatted with btrfs. The assigned pool functions identically to current cache pool operation.Īs with the current "cache pool", a single-device pool may be formatted with either xfs, btrfs, or reiserfs. When you create a user share, or edit an existing user share, you can specify which pool should be associated with that share. As long as you reassign the correct devices, data should remain intact. If later you revert back to a pre-6.9 Unraid OS release you will lose your cache device assignments and you will have to manually re-assign devices to cache.

Note: When you upgrade a server which has a cache pool defined, a backup of config/disk.cfg will be saved to config/, and then cache device assignment settings are moved out of disk.cfg and into a new file, config/pools/cache.cfg. Pools are created and managed via the Main page. The current "cache pool" is now simply a pool named "cache". This new feature permits you to define up to 35 named pools, of up to 30 storage devices/pool. Multiple Pool Support announcement: Multiple Pools
